It tells the story of the love triangle between the victorious tribune Macarius (Michele Placido, ‘Alone Against the Mafia’), his sensual wife Claudia (Marina Pierro, ‘Lady Dracula’) and her lover, the beautiful young Cornelius (Philippe Taccini), and the fate of the black slave Sepora (Mireille Pame). Ovid’s (Massimo Girotti, ‘Baron Blood’) message is that victory or defeat on the ‘battlefield of love’ is not decided by the sword, but by empathy and sensuality. No wonder Emperor Augustus sent him into exile in 8 AD.
